Great little portable DVD March 9, 2010 Linda Z. (Chicago, IL) We bought this for our 5 yr old son, to use in our vehicles when we drive more than 1/2 hr. This is our first portable DVD player so we don't have anything to compare it to, but not being able to do that, this portable player still has a great picture and sound. We haven't run it long enough at one time to see how long the battery lasts, but it has been a life-saver on trips so far. One feature that is really above others that we looked at, is the flip screen. Others would have to be used like a lap-top, either in the "L" position or open flat. This unit has the flip screen where you can turn the screen around and fold it back on the button area of the player and takes up half the space, also making it more secure (little ones won't bend it back too far). We set it up (so our son won't be the one turning the screen), and forget it. And with the remote, you only have to move the screen again when changing DVDs. Great investment and good price. We've even used it at home for another DVD player when our home TV is being used and our son wants to watch a movie.
Great DVD player March 9, 2010 Teeny (Indianapolis) I have just received this player, but in record time!!! I ordered this last Thursday and received it Monday with the free regular shipping--very impressed! It has been playing for 4 hours already and my kids love it! Great quality. I cannot wait to try it out in the car for our 6 hour trip this weekend! So far, so good!
Great picture... could be more user friendly March 5, 2010 J. Doskoch (MI) I loved the picture quality of this Sony UNTIL the picture went BLACK after less than 60 days and maybe a total of 12 DVDs played. At first the problem was intermittent... then it wouldn't play at all. Hoping this is not a common occurrence as I just received a replacement unit today. I have to say customer service is impressive as after sending an email, I was shipped a new player right away; even received a postage paid label to return the old one. Overall this Sony was just what I was looking for - small, sturdy with good picture quality. The controls are unlit and it would be a GREAT improvement if you could see the controls (pause, stop, play, etc) when the lights are off, which is my preferred way to watch a movie. The tiny "joystick" that could also be improved upon - it's a little touchy and I often had trouble selecting the menu item I wanted. Overall, assuming quality issue I had is not experienced again, I would recommend this DVD player.
So far is great February 28, 2010 Patty (Shickshinny, PA USA) Replaced a portable DVD player and so far it's working well. My toshiba did as well so my real rating will have to be when I have it longer. A much clearer picture than my older Toshiba. I don't like the buttons below the screen. Can't see them in the dark and often push ones I don't mean to as they aren't really buttons.
Best little DVD player February 6, 2010 Christine A. Wenner Bought this for my 13 year old son for Christmas 09. He uses it all the time and we have had NO problems with it at all. The screen is large enough where a few people can watch it at the same time.
